Raiku's Obsession With Video Games
Once upon a time, I had many, many video games. I've always thought they were cool, from the first time I ever saw "Pong". Over the years, I collected enough of them to keep a mere mortal entertained for a lifetime. Still, I needed more. Yes, NEEDED. NEEDED MORE! MORE MORE MORE! Well, that had to stop. I needed room for myself, and my furniture, so the games had to go.... at least the arcade games and everything pre-NES.... because they are easily emulated. Anyway, there was a secret side to this obsession that the casual observer wouldn't notice. It wasn't (isn't?) enough to just go out and buy the things. Sure, its fun to find that rare game and get a bargain on it, but what I really enjoyed, was repairing them. Especially when they were destined for the trash heap. "Oh, that? I was going to throw it away, why? Do you want it?" Those are the magic words. Some of the former stars of my "back from the almost dead" collection were my two arcade machines. I also experimented with a modification to the Atari 2600, to allow it to output composite video.
